On Friday an operation combat team arrested a senior leader of a gang in Hanover Park.

The gang leader has been instrumental in a lot of the violence in the John Down Walk area in Hanover Park.

General Jeremy Verey said the man was also involved in the incident of where a 5-year-old girl was shot but survived the incident.

Verey said the Public Prosecution Office requested that the man also be charged under the prevention of organised crime act, in particular under section 9 which deals with gang related offences.

Verey said the suspect was arrested in the Prevention of Organised Act.

“So far he is the third gangster arrested, with other two we have already dealt with in terms of parole violations.

“With three gang leaders down, we are sure others will follow quite soon” Verey added.
