Western Cape MEC of Transport and Public Works Robin Carlisle together with Metrorail Regional Manager Mthuthuzeli Swartz briefed the media on Thursday regarding concerns over recent incidents of violence on Metrorail.

Swartz said Metrorail adopts a zero-tolerance approach against contractors, employees or commuters who conduct themselves violently.

Ministerial Spokesperson Siphesihle Dube said they also discussed main security concerns for Metrorail and those include intimidation and robbery of Metrorail commuters.

Dube added that they both agreed that these issues are very serious and Metrorail has promised to do something about them quicker.
