NUM condemns decision to retrench workers

The National Union of Mineworkers said it has noted a disappointment with one-sided decision announced by Anglo platinum on Friday to retrench 6.000 workers at its operations in Rustenburg.

The NUM is opposed to any retrenchment irrespective of the numbers involved

NUM Spokesperson Lesiba Seshoka said they are going to oppose the retrenchments whether it’s in court or strike action.

Seshoka the company sought to pit one stakeholder against the other in order to forge ahead with these retrenchments.
