The Democratic Alliance has called on Minister of Police Nathi Mthethwa to assist the family of Mido Macia, who was killed after being dragged off behind a police van.

DA MP of Police Dianne Kohler Barnard said she was informed by the family of Mido Macia that despite repeated promises of assistance by the government they have received nothing.

Barnard added that both the Gauteng provincial and government and Minister of Police, Mathi Mthethwa reportedly promised financial support to Macia family.

Barnard further added that the only support which the family received was a food parcel before the Macia’s funeral.
