Offenders are preparing to take part in next year’s 15th
Cape Town Jazz Festival as part of the Department of Correctional Services
offenders’ development programme.
Music industry professionals have
partnered with the Department and are hosting workshops in correctional
facilities in the Western Cape

Maistry said as part of rehabilitation, it is important that offenders come out
of correctional services are empowered with different skills.
“Offenders are being
provided with training and education as well as employment opportunities in the
music and events industries upon their release” Maistry added.
