The South African Communist Party said it supports government led De Doorns farm dialogue as a step towards undoing the legacy of Natives Land Act of 1913.
SACP Spokesperson Sonwabile Ngxiza said they
will continue to voice its support for the genuine demands of workers for a
living wage.
On Saturday a mass meeting was held in De Doorns
with Deputy president Kgalema Motlanthe calling for cooperation between the
farmers and farm-workers.
Ngxiza said the conditions that farmworkers are
living under are so unbareable that it requires a national intervention, and
therefore they reject the Democratic Alliance’s attempt to create parallel structures.
SACP’s Ngxiza added that it is in the intrest of
the workers and the economy of this country that the conditions De Doorns are
transformed to make sure that even the poorest of the poor have land ownership
and therefore economic productivity is enhanced.
