The Democratic Nursing Organisation of South Africa has urged pharmaceuticals industry not to meddle with South Africa’s legislative processes.

Denosa Spokesperson Sibongiseni Delihlazo said the Draft Policy on Intellectual Property legislation is a direct prevention of free access to medicines to millions of people, and it is an attack on the heart of the country’s democracy.

Delihlazo said the government can easily give lesson and rights to an alternative provider of medicine if they need a rise.

He added that it is a right path to a lower pricing of medication because in terms of the policy the prices can be determined by originality, innovation and knowledge.
