A man in his 30’s was killed last night after he was hit by a bakkie on the N12 Highway in Lenasia, South of Johannesburg.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said, ER24 paramedics were called to the scene in the early hours of the morning.

On arrival, the paramedics found the body of the man lying in the centre medium between the two highways.

On assessment, paramedics found, the man had already succumbed to his multiple fatal injuries.

“Unfortunately nothing more could be done for the patient”, Meiring added

The driver of the bakkie fortunately did not sustain any injuries.

Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.

Meanwhile, a 35-year-old man is in a critical condition after he was hit by a truck on the M4 Merewent in KwaZulu Natal.

On arrival, paramedics found the male patient lying some distance away from his truck. On  assessment the paramedics found that the patient had sustained severe injuries to his head, chest and legs and was in a critical condition.

Meiring said, “Paramedics immediately began their treatment and provided the patient with advanced life support.”

Once treated, the patient was transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.
