The City of Cape Town has denied any claims that load shedding took place on Monday night. This comes after some Cape Town residents experienced power outages.
“People have been very nervous, especially yesterday (Monday), with the announcement of Koeberg taking generator Unit One out for refurbishment,” says Charles Kadalie, City’s manager of public lighting.
Kadalie explains that the outages had nothing to do with Koeberg’s announcement of the Unit.
“It was localised problems, there was nothing major on our transmission systems or on our distribution system,” says Kadalie.
He adds that the causes for the outages were a fuse that had blown and a fuse carriage that had burnt.
“It was all contained and our first line response was able to deal with the problem,” says Kadalie.
