Three suspects were arrested for the possession of an illegal substance. The arrests took place during a road block in Philadelphia conducted by the City of Cape Town Traffic and the South African Police Service at the weekend.
“We found a suite case containing Cat plants in the vehicle, and arrested the three male occupants for possession of an illegal substance,” said police spokesperson Inspector Bernadine Steyn.
Steyn said that the khat plants weighs about 28kg with an estimated street value of R33 000.
The three suspects will appear in the Atlantis magistrate’s court today.
