A car ploughed through a barrier and crashed onto the rocks at Sea Point yesterday in what was apparently a driving lesson gone wrong.

The driver, who was about 25 years old, sustained several injuries but was said to be in a stable condition in Somerset Hospital.

The passenger, believed to be in his late twenties, sustained only minor injuries.

ER24’s Tristan Wadeley said the incident happened in a parking lot on Beach Road, opposite The Peninsula Hotel, Sea Point.

“Paramedics took precautions when moving the lady and she was fully immobilised to protect the spine during transport.”
