Cape Town police are devastated over the murder of two of their colleagues in a shoot-out with five murder suspects in Kraaifontein late last night.
Inspector Gerhard Niemand says Superintendent Gregory Galvin and reservist Constable Nomathamsanqa Gilidobo were called to Bloekombos to help arrest the suspects who are linked to the attempted murder of another police member.
Niemand said when the police arrived, the suspects started shooting.
The police fired back which resulted in the two members being shot, as well as another member from the dog unit.
“All three police members were taken to hospital but unfortunately two of the Kraaifontein police members passed away at the hospital.”
