Bus services have resumed across the Cape Peninsula following an agreement between striking workers and the Golden Arrow bus service.
The bus strike by about 70-percent of the company’s drivers lasted four days despite a final court order interdicting workers.
Tens of thousands of commuters had been affected. The drivers accused some of their managers of racism and harassment.
In terms of the agreement, the strike action will cease immediately, and all blockades of exits and entrances to all depots will be cleared.
According to a press release, “all SATAWU members reported for duty at the start of their scheduled shifts and it is therefore expected that all bus services will resume according to schedule today (15 August) ”.
