The Communication Workers union and Telkom met at the CCMA yesterday, where concensus was reached on several disputed issues.

A 7.5% increase will apply on the total salary packages after the 1st of August 2009 salary scale adjustments. Parties have agreed to continue negotiations up until the 1st of December 2009 on the CWU demand to increase the 50 percent to 60 Percent in 2010. Workers are expected to return to work on Monday.

“We have also reached consencus that he agreement should be exclusive to CWU members because we have signed a better offer than the other unions operating in Telkom,” says CWU General Secretary Gallant Roberts.

Roberts added : “ We also agreed that workers who were on strike about nine days ago will have those days converted to leave, as opposed to our members losing money for those days.”

Workers are expected to return to work on Monday, where they will also receive feedback from their shop stewards.
