Two Congress of the People Councillors from Philippi are in police custody after they were arrested this morning.
The two accused of fraud after two ANC Concillors from Khayelitsha laid charges of fraud against them claiming that, they defraud their identities to buy some work clothes.
“It is alleged that the accused bought Councillor T-shirts under the victims names without their consent,” said police spokesperson Nondumiso Paul.
Paul said the victims were shocked when they noticed deductions on their payslips, they immediately requested copies of their identification card from the Council and the fraud was verified positively.
The suspects will appear in Cape Town Magistrate court on Monday.
