Five police members stationed at Kraaifontein police station are due to make court appearances from today for attempted murder, armed robbery and possession of ammunition.

Last week a constable was arrested for attempted murder and being in possession of illegal ammunition.

Two days later a reservist was arrested for attempted murder.

Yesterday morning three more members were arrested and charged with attempted murder and armed robbery.

Police spokesperson Captain Gerhad Niemand says the arrests follow after a Wallacedene resident made complaint at the police station against the members.

“The complainant reported that he was shot and robbed of his money by our members, and then we opened the case for investigation,” said Niemand.

Two members are appearing today on different courts, while the rest will appear on Monday.

Niemand says more arrests are expected to be made as investigation continues.
