A Delft police constable is under investigation after he allegedly killed a six-year-old boy in Blikkiesdorp.
It is believe the on duty police member ran over the minor on Monday evening.
The incident occurred in Symphony Way while the 25-year-old police constable was on his way to a crime scene.
Police spokesperson Captain Joe Wilson says the minor was resuscitated but died on the scene.
“The emergency services tried to resuscitate the child, but he subsequently died on the scene and the shocked police member had to receive trauma counseling,” said Wilson.
Wilson says the police member is facing charges of culpable homicide but is currently still on duty.
Anyone with information regarding the incident is requested to contact the Investigating Officer Defective Constable Bernard Wilson at the Delft Police station.
