Amid the gun attack on the Togo national team bus in Angola the German football federation backed South Africa on security at the World Cup.

The federations president Theo Zwanziger told Die Welt that German football fans should have no concerns about visiting South Africa.

Zwanziger says they have complete confidence in the government in South Africa, Fifa and the national organising committee.

The important thing for visitors is to follow exactly the advice of the security authorities in South Africa.

Meanwhile in another development, the National Union of Metalworkers has called on the 2010 Local Organising Committee to intervene to make World Cup tickest cheaper.

The union says tickets should be made available at a reasonable price to all South Africans and other African states especially the workers and the poor.

Numsa says tickets should also be sold at post offices and not at banks, which don’t have branches in all rural areas.

The union says workers are the main supporters of the national team.
