The African National Congress has fined its Youth League President Julius Malema and ordered him to apologise to President Jacob Zuma and the general public.
The ANC also ordered Malema to attend anger management classes following his disciplinary hearing which ended last night.
Malema was found guilty of behaving in a way that provoked division in the ruling party.
He pleaded guilty to a charge of sowing discord in the party but the three other charges against him were dropped and he was ordered to pay a R10 000 fine.
If he however is found guilty of a similar offence in the future he will be suspended.
Malema must now publically apologise, attend the ANC’s political school for 20 days, contribute towards a youth development project.
Meanwhile, the league said it will bring up any concerns it may have with Malema’s Disciplinary Committee decision within internal ANC structures.
“We note the decision of the DC and if there are any issues that are there within the youth league we will raise them with correct structures,” said the Youth League’s Magdalene Moonsamy.
