A 28 year old man was left critical injured after he was shot in the groin in Belhar yesterday.
Police spokesperson Captain Joe Wilson says the man was walking in the street, when he was accosted by two males.
“Both suspects suddenly produced firearms and fired several shots at him. The victim was injured in the groin, left ankle and right hand. The suspects fled the scene on foot.
“Police recovered seven spent cartridges on the scene. The injured male was given medical treatment on the scene and taken to a nearby hospital, where he is in a stable condition.
Wilson added that they suspect the incident to be gang related.
Further police investigations led to the detention of two males, both age 25, for questioning.
Anyone with information or that can shed light on the crime committed is requested to contact the Investigating Officer, Detective Sergeant Thembela Xesi at Belhar SAPS on (021) 953 8100.
