Police officer sentenced to 12 years for murder

A police member , who served as a court orderly at the Bellville Magistrates’ Court was convicted of murder at the Cape High Court yesterday.

He has been sentenced to 12 years imprisonment. Warrant Officer Snyders was on trial for the murder of Norman Swartz last two years ago.

Swartz was shot execution style in Eersteriver.

The Independent Complaints Directorate says it is pleased with the positive outcome of the case.

The ICD’s Moses Dlamini said in a statement they would "work tirelessly to rid the police force of criminal elements".
