The South African National Defence Force has sent medical personnel and aircraft to parts of the flood-stricken Northern Cape to assist with search and rescue operations.
Defence Force spokesperson Siphiwe Dlamini says, “An assessment of the affected area is currently underway.”
On Wednesday, the Water Affairs Department issued flood warnings along the Orange River, with water levels around Uppington expected to peak by later today.
