Lusanda Bill
07 July 2011
Johannesburg mayor Parks Tau has welcomed the arrest of five suspects for public violence in Chiawelo, Soweto.
This follows the destruction of electricity infrastructure and attacks on the homes of councillors in the area.
Tau is confident that more arrests will be made soon, to prove that police will take strong action against anyone who sabotages public property.
Eskom has restored power to more than 600 households who pay for their electricity but were disconnected because of the vandalism.
