A task team has been appointed by President Jacob Zuma to tackle the failing education department in the Eastern Cape.
The problems faced by the Eastern Cape education department includes firing of thousands of temporary teachers, difficulties with school feeding, non-delivery of textbooks and stationery and the suspension of pupil transport.
The task team consists of Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga, Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan, Justice Minister Jeff Radebe, Higher Education Minister Blade Nzimande and Public Service and Administration Minister Richard Baloyi.
Five other Eastern Cape officials are also part of the task team.
