A dispute over wage increases could see the coal sector embarking on a strike.
The National Union of Mineworkers says talks with the Chamber of Mines will determine whether a strike would hit the sector.
Num is demanding a 14-percent wage increase and the Chamber has upped its offer to six-percent for the lowest paid employees, and five-percent for the rest.
Trade union Solidarity’s Gideon du Plessis says they are disappointed in the Chamber’s offer.
