Lusanda Bill
08 July 2011
Two senior managers at a Queenstown hospital in the Eastern Cape have until today to give reasons why they should not been suspended.
The Komani Psychiatric Hospital manager Mandisa Oliphant and the stores supervisor Khanyisa Panga were handed letters of intended suspension after a surprise visit by Health MEC Sicelo Gqobana.
They have been charged with failure of duties and misconduct. Gqobana found patients sleeping naked on the floor due to linen shortages.
Other patients were infected with lice and the wards were dirty and smelling of urine.
