The Democratic Alliance has expressed “extreme concern” over reports that police are on the point of arresting Public Protector Thuli Madonsela for alleged corruption and fraud, relating to her tenure at the Law Reform Commission.
The DA’s Debbie Schafer says the news comes suspiciously close to the release of Madonsela’s second report on a police lease of a building in Durban.
It is apparently more damning than her first report on a Pretoria lease, in which Madonsela found the actions of Commissioner Bheki Cele to be unlawful.
Madonsela addressed the National Press Club in Pretoria about an investigation into the alleged improper soliciting of business for donations to the ANC and other issues.
She described the allegations against her as baseless and malicious.
