Lusanda Bill
06 July 2011
The South African National Road Agency Limited says current legislation does not allow for any exemptions to the proposed electronic highway tolling system in Gauteng.
This is except for emergency services and the police.
Taxi operators are calling to be excluded from the arrangement.
The South African National Taxi Council’s Phillip Taaibosh argues that the tolls will not create any immediate benefits for motorists.
Taaibosh added that all the tolls will do is drive up the cost of public transport.
