Trade union Solidarity says it will withdraw its members from a metalworkers’ strike over safety concerns.
Disruptions were seen in several city centres today as workers call for a 13% wage increase.
Solidarity’s deputy general secretary, Gideon du Plessis, says they have not yet made a final decision about if their 27-thousand members will be joining the strike.
He says they will pull out if the violence continues.
