Some progress seems to have been made in the first leg of talks between metalworkers’ unions and employers at the Collective Bargaining Council.
A damaging strike in the sector led to losses for both parties this week. Unions insist on the 13-percent wage hike, while the Steel and Engineering Industries Federation is understood to have upped their seven-percent offer.
No official announcement has, however, been made. The discussions continue today.
