The Western Cape Department of Community Safety and the City of Cape Town is piloting the Ceasefire Project in Hanover Park.

The project is aimed at reducing shootings and killings in gang-plagued neighbourhoods.

Members from the Ceasefire Chicago are visiting Cape Town to share their expertise in order for role-players to determine how the strategies, can be adapted to our situation.

This week’s training phase follows months of planning and continued engagement with the community through the established Hanover Park Stakeholder Forum.

Ceasefire also involves co-operation from the South African Police Service (SAPS) and SAPS have been involved in the planning of the Project from the start.
