South Africa will meet the 2013 deadline for the move from analogue to digital broadcasting.
This is according to Communications Minister Roy Padayachie, who was responding to allegations of gross financial mismanagement at Usaasa, the body mandated to oversee the digital migration.
Padayachie’s department has been criticised for the cost of the decoder boxes that will be needed to pick up digital signals.
The boxes are estimated to cost between R300 and R700.
