A 34-year-old suspended police constable is appearing in court in connection with the killing last week of young Pretoria mother Chanelle Henning.

Gerhardus Petrus du Plessis is suspected of being the gunman in the murder.

Du Plessis was suspended earlier after two murder dockets had allegedly been stolen.

He faces charges of murder, plotting to commit murder and possession of an illegal firearm.

Three men were arrested with him and police expect to make more arrests soon.
