Khoisan leader given a state funeral

The Khoisan traditional leader, Oom Dawid Kruiper, was giveb=n a state funeral in Andriesvale in the Kalahari despite concerns from traditional Koisan members on Saturday.

The funeral was attended by about 3 000 people, including Northern Cape government officials, traditional leaders and friends of the Khomani San.

Traditional leaders at the funeral were concerned by governments' intervention.

The Khoisan Spokersperosn Zenzile Khoisan said that they were concerned because government officials only came out very late to honour their leader.

He also said that Oom Kruiper all his life was ignored by the South African government only in his final days they come and offer to honour him.
