The African Christian Democratic Party today said it welcomes President Jacob Zuma’s resolution to remove South African soldiers who were deployed in the Central African Republic.

ACDP President Reverend Kenneth Moshoe said whilst they welcome the troops’ return home, many questions remain unanswered about the reasons behind the deployment of the troops in the first place.

Moshoe said that it is still not clear why our troops were there, as government departments have been giving contradictory statements.

“We have heard the Minister of Defence say that the troops were there to protect business interests, we have heard word from the Presidency said they were there to train the military there; there is definitely some facts that are hidden” Moshoe added.

Moshoe also said that they have called for a commission of Inquiry to look into the reason why troops were deployed.
