The National Health Department is today rolling out the new anti-HIV pill.

The new fixed-doze combination will reduce the number of antiretroviral pills taken per day from three or four to just one pill a day.

Health minister, Aaron Motsoaledi is today officially launching the roll-out of this new pill in Ga-Rankuwa, north of Pretoria.

Ministerial Spokesperson Joe Maila said the department is very happy about this launch and the priority at this stage is to focus on treating pregnant women.

Maila added that the department hopes to roll out the pill to all patients by the end of the year.
