Two EC men die in shack fire

Eastern Cape police have opened an inquest docket, into the circumstances that lead to the death of two men.

The pair is believed to have died in a shack fire in the Skiet Township in Butterworth on Wednesday night.

Captain Jackson Manatha said that the men were last seen seeking matches.

Manatha said that the men’s neighbour said she saw flames coming from their shack but did not report the matter to the police.

“The following morning was seen burnt two ashes and we found two skulls” Manatha added.

Manatha also said that the men’s identities can not be stated as their next of kin are yet to be informed.
