DA welcomes the draft of the Dangerous Weapons Bill

Lusanda Bill
13 February 2013

The Democratic Alliance has welcomed the new draft of the Dangerous Weapons Bill.

DA’s Show Minister of Police Dianne Kohler Barnard said the Bill is a vast improvement on what had initially been presented to Parliament.

Kohler-Bernard said the Bill will go a long way towards dealing with the thorny issue of carrying dangerous weapons during protests.

DA’s Dianne Kohler Barnard added that more clarity is needed on what constitutes a dangerous weapon and they call on the Minister to provide a schedule on what he considers to be such, as this is currently not provided in the Bill.
