Child Welfare South Africa has condemned the current increase of sexual violence and rape.

Child Welfare said the incident in Bredasdorp entrenches the fact that South Africa with the highest rape figures in the world has still not made progress to reducing rape statistics.

National Executive Director of Child Welfare Trix Marais said there is hard work for everybody in the new South Africa to take responsibility to raise our children in a way that they understand that a human being does not react like what the rapists did to Anene Booysen.

Marais added that they are happy that the Department of Woman, Children and People with Disabilities wants to help Child Welfare with resources to make sure that this tragedy does not happen again.
