The Federation Union of South Africa on Friday said government should look into its own inefficiencies instead of taking an unfocused approach to solving problems in the education sector.

This follows ANC’s proposal to declare education in the country an essential service.

Many organisation including Fedusa and the South African Student Congress are against this proposal.

If the proposal goes through it would mean that it will be illegal for teachers to strike in the country.

Fedusa’s General Secretary Dennis George said this move by the ruling party is inappropriate and they are willing to sit down with government to try to find solutions in these problems.
