Teachers, parents and pupils at Nomlinganiselo Primary School today again blocked the school with tyres refusing to teach.

The teachers want the principal of the school removed.

It is alleged that the principal is involved in corruption and nepotism.

The Western Cape Department of Health today sent officials to embark on an investigation into the matter.

Department spokesperson Paddy Attwell said their circuit manager received a call at 7:30 am that tyres were outside the front gate of the school.

Attwell adds that the protesters set fire to the tyres around 8:30 and a few community members and about 15 teachers were outside the gate at the time.

Atwell furthermore added that the circuit team leader called the police who agreed to send a contingent to the school and to protect officials who were due to start their investigation.

Before the team could start their investigation, they had to ensure that the officials could gain safe access to the school, Atwell said

Atwell said that they can now confirm that the investigation has started, with interviews with teachers.
