The National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa showed their disagreement with the call by the African National Congress for teaching to be seen as an essential service.

Although the union agreed that that education is a tool needed to liberate a nation, but they feel that teachers have a right to show their unhappiness.

Numsa General Secretary Irvin Jim said there is colonization of a special type in this country.

Jim added that this would not solve the problems that the country is facing.

The ANC made the announce last week after their Lekgotla at Luthuli House.

The declaration would make it unlawful for teachers to strike.
