WC officials discuss ways to curb sexual violence

Western Cape Community Safety MEC Dan Plato, together with the MEC of Social Development Albert Fritz and Provincial Police Commissioner Anno Lamoer on Thursday held a meeting on was to curb the scourge of violence against women and children.

MEC Plato urged residents to report abuse, because that can help to curb the trend.

The Officials are planning to hold a follow up meeting soon, which will also include academics and gender rights organisations to make presentations to his department to try to combat the sexual abuse of women and children.

Plato Spokesperson Mirreile Wenger said the department is bringing in renewed focus to prevent sexual crimes.
