WC Traffic roadblock stats

The Western Cape Traffic Department held 24 roadblocks through out the weekend.

2 800 vehicles were stopped and 1 147 drivers tested for alcohol. 25 drunk drivers were arrested, and one Swellandam motorist was arrested for negligent driving.

Traffic Chief Kenny Africa said the total amount of fines that were distributed were R 175 100, and they had tested the speed of 12 474 vehicles.

“We prosecuted 919 drivers for exceeding the speed limit” Africa said.

Africa said that five fatalities had been reported through the weekend.
