The Democratic Alliance has challenged the National Education Department to deliver tectbooks to schools with shortages within 24 hours.

On Friday the DA found thousands of textbooks still lying in a Polokwane warehouse. The Education Department’s spokesperson Panyaza Llesufi apparently claimed that the books were merely additional stock.

DA National Spokesperson Mmusi Maimane said that their view is, they can not live in a country where young people are miseducated.

“We feel it is absolutely critical that as a country we act in a manner that ensures that the Department delivers those textbooks” Maimane said.

Maimane added that they are willing to take whatever steps in ensuring that those textbooks are delivered.
