Road rage incident leaves 12 people injured

An alleged road rage incident in Mpumalanga left 12 people in Middelburg police said.

Spokesperson Leonard Hlathi said a case of assault with intent to cause serious bodily harm and the other of common assault hae been opened.

Hlathi said that the incident had occured in Doornkop, a suburb near Middelburg.

Some of the victims have been being treated in hospital. 

Hlathi said that a sedan barricaded a taxi from moving further, alleging that the taxi driver had been driving badly.

“There was an exchange of words which lead to the driver of the sedan calling for back up from his friends” Hlathi said.

Hlathi said that the sedan driver’s friends arrived at the scene and the passengers of the taxi were allegedly assaulted.

Hlati added that the police were summoned to the scene and the two cases were opened.
