The Democratic Alliance said its supports calls by the Minister of Health Aaron Motsoaledi for Members of Parliament to publicly test for HIV/Aids.

DA MP on Health Patricia Kopane said they fully support an initiative that makes sure that people know their status irrespective if you are a member of Parliament or not.

Kopane also said the test in Parliament should be don voluntarily no one should be forced to test.

She added that the most important thing of knowing ones status is that South Africa will be knowing the statistics, so that in terms of making the budget and in that aspect the department of health will know how many people are affected and how much can be budgeted for.

Furthermore Kopane explains that   it is the responsibility of each and everyone, to go and test and it must be done voluntarily but they are encouraging people with information so that they can make the right decision.

“And after they have been tested and it is positive they also need to be supported and be encouraged to take their treatment,” said Kopane.
