The Department of Home Affairs on Thursday said it will in the coming months better manage immigrants.

The department in the past twelve months implemented a fast track system in Durban, Musina and Pretoria.

Preliminary finds have indicated positive trends in the numbers of Asylum seeker applications have decreased, especially in the Durban refugee reception center.

Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Fatima Chohan said in an on-going effort to curb bribery and corruption at refugee centers the department will introduce track and trace capability to monitor the processing of asylum seekers applications in all the centers.

Chohan further said permits will now be printed on paper only manufactured for the department which if tampered with personalized details on that permit will immediately discolour the permit.
