Illegal school under spotlight

The Western Cape Department of Education said it is outraged at the situation in the Zwelitsha area. 

According to the department learners who were attending an illegal school a way was made for them to start enrolling at Ludwe Ngamlana Primary School after the department brought in additional mobile classrooms. 

This morning community members disrupted the process by demanding that the learners to not be enrolled at Ludwe Ngamlana but at a separate school. 

Ministerial Spokesperson Bronagh Casey said their intention is to safely integrate schools from unregistered schools to a registered and safe school environment.

We want them to be in stable school environments where appropriate text books, books as well as facilities, furniture and equipment” Casey added.

Casey also said that the demands that are wanted were not part of the proposal that was accepted and that the department will not employ teachers whose necessary qualifications are not known to.
