Lawyer for Cape Town Dr Cyril Karabus, Michael Bagraim said they are expected to receive the professor’s passport on Sunday. The 78-year-old has been the United Arab Emirates for the past nine months.

This is after two Abu Dhabi courts have acquitted him of manslaughter and forgery in connection with the death of a young cancer patient he treated more than a decade ago.

Bagraim said nothing is happening today since it is their Sabbath, but they are expecting to go to the jail on Sunday.

“We have completed all the forms and they told us to come back there at about lunchtime on Sunday” Bagraim added.
